Notes from Joe Adamik
I started Hippo Machine in 2017 as a vehicle to put out records that i loved and had a vested interest in. Madness of Crowds: Tulips was the first of these albums. In a world where streaming is infinitely more popular than the old collection of songs known as the album, I am still committed to releasing not only albums, but vinyl albums at that. That doesn’t mean that I’m not interested in the modern world, but I do believe that you can make a much greater statement musicaly with a group of songs or collection than with one song. I am interested in the streaming world, but it is clear that it benefits those at the top and I would like to find a way to expose people to music that I think people would love, but maybe can’t find within there normal listening activities. So maybe that’s my job for 2020.
